(from Lat. "capture the moment") So that at death I may not regret that I was alive, So that all creation may marvel at my life, So that the Creator may fully form Christ in me. I will follow Him in the madness of inspiration Toward the high goal that God has set with His blood. I will tear off the chains of stupid despondency, And I will suck the marrow out of life. Let me be consumed with the love fire ablaze in my breast, Love toward those who shout at me, "You are crazy!" I will love them with the cross of Christ, I will capture the moment of this hard life And suck the marrow out of life. This is not the marrow of pleasure that leads to impotence But the sacrifice of the candle that has exchanged its wax for the righteous fire that gives light to grim people Who wander in the shadows of the insanity of sin. I will tear out my heart and plunge it into the hands of Christ. Let Him use it where there is emptiness and lack of light, Where the fetters rattle with iron. May my heart shed life to them on their way. May I give life for their freedom. This is my bliss in the midst of the illusory years Of the short life that will disappear like smoke. It will be blown away by the wind of righteousness, By the true freedom that is possible only with Him. |
